The UK final of Be At One’s national cocktail-making competition, Best In Glass, took place last week at their flagship venue on Regent Street, and a winner has been announced!

With over 150 people from Be At One in attendance, Tuesday’s competition was eclectic and full of incredible skill.

Be At One Newcastle General Manager, Oskar Wozniak, has been crowned the winner of the famed cocktail making competition. Oskar wowed the judges with his new creation, a Casamigos tequila-based cocktail named ‘Basic Peach’.

Oskar said: “It was remarkably exciting to take part in this year’s competition – the creativity, fun, and flair was thrilling, and there was so much energy and passion in the room.”

One of the highlights for me was the camaraderie among the participants and seeing so many colleagues from Be At One venues come down to cheer us on. It was amazing to be a part of this supportive community. Winning the competition and knowing that my cocktail will be featured in all Be At One bars across the UK is a great achievement. It’s extremely encouraging and makes me want to continue up-skilling and pushing the boundaries of cocktail-making even further.”

The competition was fierce, with talented Be At One mixologists from across the country showcasing their skills. First runner up was Abbie Conner, Assistant General Manager Norwich Be at One, who impressed the judges with a delectable Tanquery 10 gin-based cocktail named ‘Now and 10’. Dan Taylor, Master Bartender at the Bath venue, claimed the second runner up spot with his Tanquery 10 gin-based cocktail ‘Gin Lane’.

Judging this cocktail showdown was an impressive panel of industry experts, including Carrie Nelmes, Senior Marketing Manager at Be At One, Andrew Palfreyman, Operations Manager at Be At One, Jo Last, World Class Ambassador and James Kemp, Customer Marketing Manager at Diageo.

Carrie said: “The atmosphere was electric and that’s what Be At One is all about. There was lots of cheering, banter and incredible camaraderie displayed by all those who participated and attended. The event encompassed everything that Be At One stands for.”

The competition offered a unique opportunity for Be At One bartenders to demonstrate their creativity and flair, using premium spirits from Diageo’s portfolio of brands. And for the winner, the rewards are even greater – the chance to compete in the World Class GB finals in Edinburgh this June, followed by the ultimate prize of representing the UK in the World Class Global Final in São Paulo, Brazil, this September.

The winner’s crowning cocktail from the Best In Glass competition will go onto Be At One’s new menu on the 23rd of May and the top three winner’s drinks will be available to buy for the month of April as they will feature in the Best In Glass April campaign.
