The Sailors Arms and Club on Fore Street received a significant investment of £1.9M earlier this year from award-winning pub company, Stonegate Group.
Since reopening the team has welcomed many guests visiting the sites for food, drinks, and a party! More recently the team welcomed local MP, Steve Double to see its new look and find out more about the businesses.
The MP for St Austell and Newquay was warmly welcomed to the sites by General Manager Chris Hancock and the team. Chris was quick to start talking to Steve about the recent investment, which saw the venues transform to enhance the guest experience.
Changes made during the Sailor’s Club investment included the installation of the latest state-of-the-art sound and light systems, elegant VIP booths and a new drinks menu. At the Sailor’s Arms, a new food menu was introduced alongside contemporary seating and lighting, comfy booths and TV screens which were added inside the pub. And to enjoy the breath-taking view of Newquay Bay, the spacious, elevated, and heated terraces have been uplifted and revamped.
Chris commented: “It has been so great having our doors open after our amazing renovation, we have completely fallen in love with the look of both venues, and it is so nice to hear guests’ compliments too.
“The team and I thoroughly enjoyed talking to Steve about the investment and showing him all the new additions. We are so proud of the Sailor’s and cannot wait to spend summer with everyone in Newquay!”
As well as discussing the investment, Steve and Chris were able to talk about ways in which they are constantly working on their community engagement and involving individuals in Newquay in everything they have going on. Also, local topics and current affairs were spoken about.
Steve Double MP said: “I am pleased to have been invited to visit the Sailor’s, the pub and club look brilliant after the recent work. It was also good to meet Chris and the team and find out more about these brilliant local businesses. The venues have transformed and are a great part of the Newquay area. I look forward to visiting again in the future.”
Chris concluded: “Steve’s visit was very positive, and it was lovely to tell him all the great things about our local businesses. We look forward to welcoming Steve again.”
