The Red Lion in Wednesfield was recognised for the essential role it plays in the community by judges of the Publican Awards, a national awards ceremony that celebrates everything that’s great about the world of pubs and bars.
The pub, on the Amos Lane in Wednesfield, is very much at the heart of the community it serves. A well-established, award-winning local, The Red Lion takes customer satisfaction very seriously and the feedback it receives reflects this, with comments such as: ‘polite and happy staff’, ‘service with a smile’, ‘welcoming staff’ and ‘they couldn’t have done more for us’, regularly featuring on review sites. One happy customer described the Red Lion as ‘a superb community local in every sense’.
It recently underwent a significant £250,000 investment and local MP Emma Reynolds popped in to see the new look pub. Following her visit, Ms Reynolds said: “I really enjoyed meeting the team at the Red Lion, it looks great after its refurbishment. Pubs are an integral part of the local community and I am pleased to see confidence in Wolverhampton pubs, demonstrated by this investment.”
The Red Lion runs lots of family-orientated events and it is also the place to come and watch live sports with matches shown on big screens throughout the pub. Food-wise, there is something for everyone, with wide a range of pub classics, as well as vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes on offer. The pub also has a wide range of beers, wines and spirits including over 20 different gins and a good selection of whiskys, vodka, rum and liqueurs.
