Beconsfield MP Dominic Grieve took time out to visit The Old Brewery in Marlow recently to see behind the scenes of the £300,000 investment three months after from its completion.

The transformation in March restored the traditions of the great British pub with a nod to the history of the building, including the surprise discovery of a hidden old fireplace dating back to the 18th century with “TW & S” in scripted in the wall, when the ‘Old Brewery’ pub was the original ‘Thomas Wethered & Sons’ brewery. The refurbishment brought with it eight new jobs, sports, craft beer, Rock ‘n’ Roll bingo, Fifa nights and Marlow’s only 2am licence.

The local MP was introduced to the front and back of house team, learning of Stonegate’s apprenticeships and careers in management.

General manager Indrit Bala said: “It was great timing for the visit as we gear up for the world cup during which we’ll be bringing the community together in the true fashion of how sport should be, showing not only England games, but all the nationalities.”

Area Manager Gemma Dicks was on hand to give Mr Grieve the guided tour: “We appreciate Dominic visiting The Old Brewery to see the renovations and to meet the local teams.  This investment forms part of our annual £50 Million spend developing our pubs across the country providing enhanced community facilities, creating jobs and careers for people of all ages. Hospitality is an important business sector generating significant income for government and we are pleased that our local MP recognises the importance of British pubs and bars.”
