Encompassing its love of sports and community values the Salthouse pub, close to Sutton in Hull, has added to the village’s attraction and charm with a £235,000 investment, creating five new jobs.

The Dunvegan Road pub has added a contemporary flair to its traditional character with hearty pub food from breakfast to evening, cask ale, craft beer and entertainment joining its renowned sports appeal. The investment has expanded the pub by a third, knocking through the previous porchway and pillars – creating ample space for Hull’s locals to enjoy cosy dining all year round.

The dedicated sports bar decorated in memorabilia has always been the gathering point for many, including the pub’s own ‘Recketts’ rugby team. Constant streaming of sports through Sky and BT Sports has been enhanced with six plasma TVs and eight-foot big screen. Uniting the community under one roof, it’s an atmosphere to welcome both ‘Kings’ and ‘Rovers’ to schmooze shoulder to shoulder; even sophisticated table service plays during big games so customers never miss a score.

The VIP launch on Friday 3rd November at 5pm, will showcase the fresh new décor, craft beers, tasters of the most proper of pub food, and an introduction to the pub’s new music line up as Hull’s legendary Mister Men perform 70s and 80s covers.

Offering an extended range of craft beer and ales, six handpulls feature a number of local and national brews including great newton brewery timothy taylors black sheep hobgoblin, alongside craft alternatives such as Bluemoon and Punk IPA. Premium spirits line the bar and gin has become a focal point with a plethora of the tasty botanicals like Hendricks, Tanqueray and Bombay Sapphire paired with fruity accompaniments like pomegranate and elderflower tonic or raspberry lemonade.

The brand new food menu puts quirky twists on pub favourites with the piece de resistance pizza pie – the perfect blend of everyone favourite indulgences, pastry dough with a mozzarella and meat or mushroom filling – it’s the perfect winter warmer. If you’re watching your waistline the new calorie counter section lets you enjoy tasty dishes like the Mexican pasta boats and guilt free chicken burger for under 450 calories, cosy pub nights just got tastier.

Entertainment will know no bounds with Monday games night free pool, Tuesday music quiz, Wednesday Bingo, Thursday poker night, Friday Karaoke, Saturday live music sets, and Super Sunday wind down with quizgo and of course the traditional roast dinner with all the trimmings.

Open from 11am-midnight Monday- Sunday, it’s idyllic for after work wind down, evening soiree, or relaxed dining experience.
