Kilmarnock residents are in for a treat this week when one it’s much loved pubs, First Edition, re-opens following an extensive refurbishment. The pub which has been closed for a £250,000 makeover, will have a totally new design when its swings its doors open this Friday 19th September. Six additional, permanent front of house and kitchen positions have been created in anticipation of a busy run-up to Christmas.
The Bank Street pub, will be celebrating its re-launch with a party on Friday evening hosted by the pub’s general manager William Wallace and his team. The sounds of a Scottish piper will resonate across the town as it announces the opening and will be followed by a late night of celebrations led by the pub’s resident DJ.
“The pub is being fully redecorated inside and out and will have a lighter, brighter feel with new furniture, flooring, artwork and signage”, said First Edition’s general Manager William Wallace. “We’re also giving our garden a makeover so customers can enjoy the mild autumn weather. It’s a significant investment so our customers are going to notice a big difference.
“We are taking the opportunity to make some changes to our offer and service, opening earlier from 9.00am Monday to Saturday to serve breakfasts. From a full traditional Scottish breakfast to simply a delicious Lavazza coffee and muffin, we can now cater for breakfast meetings or an early or mid-morning stop for shoppers”, added William.
The pub will be increasing its cask ale selection too, doubling to four hand-pumps and serving regularly rotating local ales as well as ales from across the UK. It opens with two cask ales from local brewer, Arran Brewery from the Isle of Arran – Arran Blonde and Arran Dark.
The pub’s menu is packed with a great selection of dishes to suit any time or occasion. Pub favourites such as Cumberland sausage and mash sit alongside a choice of seven mouth-watering burgers including the hot and spicy Towering Inferno burger. There are sharing dishes, perfect for enjoying with friends whilst watching the sport, grilled dishes for those with a big appetite and a delicious choice of five lower-calorie dishes, all under 500 calories. “We always like to keep up with the latest food trends, so will be introducing some new ideas into our dishes when we launch our Winter menu in November,” mentioned William.
“Customers will be pleased to know there will be plenty of things that will stay just as they are at the First Edition, such as our brilliant Sunday evening quiz, our DJ-led party nights every Friday and Saturday and our extensive showing of sporting events via BT and Sky Sports”, continued William.
First Edition will re-open from 9am Mondays to Saturdays and at 11am on Sundays. It will close at 11pm on Sundays to Thursdays and at 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. Food will be served daily until 9.00pm.
The pub will be hosting a prosecco and canapé reception for invited guests on Friday 19th September at 5pm ahead of the official doors opening at 7pm.
