MP for Spelthorne, Kwasi Kwarteng recently popped in local pub, Sir John Gibson in Stanwell to see its new look following a £233,000 investment towards the end of last year.

Mr Kwarteng was warmly welcomed by Operator Danielle Chaplin and the pub’s team, who were able to discuss the recent investment and the pub’s offering to the community with him.

Talking about the changes made during the investment, Danielle explained that both the interior and exterior of the pub had been given a revamp, and the garden has a new seating area, which the team are excited to see in use over the coming spring and summer months.

Danielle said: “Welcoming Kwasi to Sir John Gibson was great. The team and I loved talking about our wonderful pub and showcasing our new look. Kwasi really liked the outcome of the investment and mentioned how much the pub has changed since he first knew it as the Sir John Gibson.”

The recent investment by award-winning Craft Union Pub Company, who are current title holders of the Best Community Operator at the Publican Awards, introduced an amazing new drinks menu and collection of great entertainment. “We have a great range of beers, ciders, wines and spirits available, which Kwasi got behind the bar to explore” added Danielle. While behind the bar Mr Kwarteng was able to pull a pint of Doom Bar and even enjoy it!

Danielle concluded: “Kwasi was very interested to hear about how we play a part in the community and support our customers and others in the area. Our weekly entertainment of live sports, live music and much more really brings together our customers, and it is great seeing everyone have fun. We also told Mr Kwarteng how we are looking into supporting local charities in the future through different fundraising initiatives.

“It was a pleasure to have Kwasi visit, and not only find out more about the pub but to hear from local customers as to why they love spending time here. We look forward to the next time he pops by and tells us more from his own knowledge of pubs.”
