Stonegate’s student concept pubs, Common Room, have revamped their menu ready for Autumn with a host of new dishes inspired by street food trends. The 21-strong group of pubs, favourites amongst today’s technology driven consumer for their many modern day essential features such as sockets and USB ports on tables and super-fast broadband connections, have sought customer feedback when creating new dishes.
As a result the new menu is packed with simple breakfast options, perfect for eating in or taking away, a new slow cooked meat section, fresh salads, lighter choices and vegetarian dishes.
The breakfast menu has been changed to include American style pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, cereal, porridge, greek yoghurt and granola and toast and jam. This is in addition to the grab-and-go counters in each pub, which serve an array of healthy snacks, treats, frappes and smoothies, perfect for on the way to lectures or to work.
Inspired by street food trends, the main menu includes a choice of open burritos such as shredded chicken and BBQ bean burrito, alongside ribs, wings and slaw, a salt beef sub and Rib Licker – pulled beef rib with gherkins and crispy onions. Several new burgers including the New York burger with salt beef, a chilli cheese burger and a grilled halloumi and mushroom burger have been added too.
World food flavours have been introduced – the Indian lentil dish, khichdi and a Lebanese style aubergine crumble. Meanwhile, there is an increased range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes. Generous sharer trays, such as the new No 4, packed with half rack of ribs, pulled pork sliders, sliced hot dog, chips, cheesy garlic bread, battered gherkins and slaw is the essential accompaniment for sports viewing with mates and is available with an array of super-hot sauces to top.
Dessert lovers will be tempted by the strawberry sandwich or salted caramel sundae, both irresistible.
The wide craft beer range is being evolved with further choice, whilst new fruit and vegetable smoothies and frappes join the drinks menu. The cocktail menu welcomes six new choices – Orange Zinger, Ting Twister, Doctor Pepper, Cheery Doctor, Gold and Stormy and Apple Zu – featuring some of the newly introduced retro drinks Dr Pepper and Ting. Whilst the bars’ popular spirit infusions will continue with even more interesting flavours to try.
Alongside the new dishes and drinks several great customer deals have been introduced. Customers can double their loyalty points on Mondays by receiving 20 points for every £1 spent on food or drinks, whilst Wednesdays become Wing Wednesday from 5-10pm each week when chicken wings are priced at just 25p a wing.
