A lovely book was written during the pandemic by Stonegate team members: ‘Short Stories from down the Pub’. It was written to raise money for the Licensed Trade Charity; a charity set up to support hospitality workers in times of hardship. The idea was born in December 2020, during lockdown, to encourage those who work in the Hospitality sector, to share their pub stories and create something to remember the Great British Pub.
The originator was keen to relieve the lockdown induced boredom, stress, and curtailed socialising, amongst the workforce of the UK’s largest pub company. The idea soon became an exciting challenge to create a charity fund raising book of short stories from ‘down’ the Pub. The book features short stories covering every emotion, from hilarious stories to emotional tearjerkers.
The final proofs for the book were completed in early June 2021 in readiness for publishing and launch alongside the full re-opening of our beloved pubs (with no restrictions on trading). It is a great read, with a great cause and will be highly relatable to anyone who has worked in hospitality or anyone who loves a pub! We are so proud of this book and our team members who wrote it during a very challenging time.
This book makes a lovely gift whilst also giving to charity at the same time.
