Beloved Dorking pub, The Spotted Dog, has reopened following an exciting six-figure investment, with the renovations leading to an increase in capacity by 130.

The venue closed its doors on 20th October for the transformation, with two months of extensive work taking place behind the scenes to introduce new features.

Situated on South Street, the pub has established itself as a favourite amongst those in Dorking with a brand-new drinks menu accompanying the renovation work, and Dorking locals will soon be able to enjoy tasty dishes when the food offering launches in Spring 2025.

Inside the pub, a refreshed layout and pristine lighting create a welcoming atmosphere, complemented by comfortable furniture that adds to the homely charm. The renovation also includes the installation of brand-new, modern toilets.

Externally, a new raised decking area with five sheltered heated booths has been added to the beer garden, reinforcing its reputation as the ultimate spot in Dorking for an ice-cold pint.

Commonly regarded as the best beer garden in Dorking, the outdoor space has recently increased its capacity by 100 and offers fantastic views of the local area. It’s a popular spot for locals to enjoy a pint before heading to watch the Dorking Wanderers.

Situated near a range of walking spots, the pub is also a favourite among guests stopping by for a pint and a bite to eat with man’s best friend.

It also boasts an extensive choice of no and low alcohol offerings, ensuring all guests are accommodated throughout Dry January and beyond.

Brian Coughlan, Publican at The Spotted Dog, said: “We’ve been working hard behind the scenes for the past few months on the renovation works, and it’s been great to welcome guests, both old and new, back to our beloved pub.

“The feedback we’ve received from our guests about how much they love the improved beer garden and all the new features we’ve invested in has been brilliant to hear!

“We know the work completed has not only enhanced our warm and welcoming atmosphere but also strengthened the pub’s community spirit, which was at the heart of our thoughts during the investment.”

The Spotted Dog boasts regular live musical performances alongside monthly Quiz Nights on the last Thursday of every month, where Dorking locals are invited to test their knowledge amongst the best in the area.

A pillar of the community, The Spotted Dog also regularly raises money for local causes with a recent £96 donation to the JP8 Charitable Trust, one of many examples of the pub’s pledge to support and provide a community hub for the Dorking area.
