The Sutton arms in Hornchurch, Essex held their S Factor finale, a regional talent singing competition, last month also raising an almighty £1,000 for Havering Street Pastors.
The glamorous evening saw contestants sing their hearts out competing to be the S factor winner in the tight nit talent show. Pulling the community together (even with the judge jeering )! Manager Mehmet asked locals at the event to support him in raising funds for the local Street Pastors. As a result, a huge £1,132 was raised for the charity, £202 from the initial heat and a further £930 on the finale.
Vouchers and gifts were generously donated by local businesses for a raffle, buckets collected loose change and to top it off, local solicitors Moss and Coleman threw in a £500 cheque making it £1,132 for the Ascension Trust!
With a fantastic turn out, locals were keen to give back to the Street pastors, recognised for always being on hand to support the community. The evening was warmed up with an outside burger stand that went down like a hot potato, cask ales were in abundance and with the mood high-spirited, there was a definite air of people having a phenomenal night whilst giving back to the community at the same time.
The Havering Street Pastors help keep the community and streets safe providing support for the vulnerable and referred to as ‘street angels’, their nickname depicts them perfectly.
General Manager Mehmet said, “What a fantastic evening and outcome, we are honoured to have been chosen to host the big finale at our pub. A fantastic sum of money was raised for volunteers that do a fantastic job!”.
