Tamworth Mayor, Moira Greatorex has cut the ribbon officially reopening the doors of The Penny Black, Tamworth this month following its investment by Stonegate Group.

The pubs reopening day welcomed everyone from the local community to come and celebrate its doors being open again and its new look. Tamworth Mayor, Moira Greatorex visited the pub to officially cut the ribbon and open the doors once again as well as raising a toast with General Manager, Jamie Williams to the newly refurbished Penny Black.

Moira Greatorex, Tamworth Mayor, said: “I am very grateful to have officially opened The Penny Black after its refurbishment. The pubs new appearance is wonderful, and it was great to see it first hand and be shown around by Jamie. I believe the pub will play a big part in the Tamworth community and it was so nice to see lots of individuals come down for the reopening.”

The Penny Black has undergone a £310,000 investment, which has seen the inside of the pub turn into a spacious area for drinks and food, especially with its new dining and service area. Brand new seats and soft furnishings have been added, which is perfect to sit and have a quiet drink or to watch all the sporting action on one of the pubs nine large TVs all with surround sound. Also, if you were looking to have some sporting action of your own and rustle up some friendly competition, then there is also a pool table and darts board to do exactly that.

It is not just the pubs building which has had a makeover, but its food and drinks menu has too. You can enjoy some delicious breakfast options or dine on classic pub dishes such as hearty pies and tasty burgers during lunch and dinner. There is a range of drinks you can choose from, which also pair great with the amazing plates. The bar houses its new range of beers and ciders as well as wines from around the world and well-loved spirits, and if you are looking for something more fun and classier then why not try out the pubs cocktail range.

Jamie Williams, General Manager of The Penny Black, said: “I am so happy the doors are open once again at The Penny Black, and that we were able to have our local Mayor come down to officially reopen the pub. The first few weeks of trading have been great, it is so nice to see returning and new faces coming in for drinks and trying out our new food menu. The recent investment has made this an exciting time for the pub and given it a new lease of life. The team and I look forward to seeing many more of you come in and visit, whether that be for a drink or to join in with anything fun we have going on.”
