The 19th annual Springstock Charity Music Festival took place at the Tennis Court Pub in Perry Bar, Birmingham recently and raised a whopping £3,000 for McMillan Cancer Support and The British Heart Foundation.

The festival commemorates the lives of two local men, Alan Knowles and Gary Higgs, who were both well-loved patrons of the Tennis Court. Alan’s brother Robert initiated the festival after Alan sadly lost his battle to cancer 19 years ago. Robert’s friend Gary was a huge supporter but sadly he suffered a heart attack and also passed away.

Luke Knowles, Robert’s son, took over the organisation of the festival this year. Luke organised a fantastic line up of live music plus entertainment for the kids, with a bouncy castle and soft play area in the garden. Special Springstock T-shirts were made to commemorate the occasion and sold with all the proceeds going to the charities. A raffle and tombola, with some fantastic prizes also helped to raised funds.

General Manager, Elysia Mosedale, said: “We really enjoy hosting the Springstock Charity Music Festival. It’s fantastic that we were able to raise so much money for the two charities and we would like to thank all our customers for their support and look forward to hosting it again next year.”
