Stockton has seen it’s favourite local The Blue Post (formerly Traders Post) reopen, as it welcomes customers back following a £184,000 transformation.

Receiving a complete facelift and revamp, The Blue Post’s new look interior sees its seating areas refurbished giving a new lease of life to the pub.

With a number of large TVs throughout all areas of the pub, there’s no better place in town to catch all of the best sporting action live with your friends and family, as The Blue Post gets ready for the start of the new football season. Also entertaining guests will be the venue’s freshly updated darts area, with two illuminated dart boards creating the perfect opportunity for a little competition between friends. The venue’s previous large DJ booth has also been removed to make the seating area more spacious and comfortable for guests.

Externally new festoon lighting has been added to create a warm and welcoming outdoor experience, with additional seating added and covered areas which include heating for visitors to enjoy no matter the weather in it’s lovely garden area.

The Blue Post is open everyday from 12pm so it’s the perfect venue to pop in and have a refreshing drink this summer.  The bar stocks quality beers, wines and spirits with well-known local, national and international names, most notably offers on Carling at £2.45 a pint, Strongbow at £2.35 a pint, and John Smith at £2.05 giving plenty of value to the pub’s guests through the weeknights. The drinks menus feature a good choice of barista-style hot drinks and interesting range of low and no-alcohol drinks too.

The pub is based in the heart of the town that bares home to the Stockton and Darlington Railway. With its town hall dating back to 1735, the Blue Post was built in the 19th century and was previously named Blue Post Yard. The pub is part of the award winning Craft Union Pub Company, which has recently been named Best Community Pub Operator, for the third time, at the Publican Awards.

Guests will see familiar faces behind the bar in Laura Buckley and Brad Hutchinson. Laura was the manager of the pub, when it was known as the Traders Post, and Brad has worked in security at a number of local venues in the area.

Operator at The Blue Post, Laura said: “This is an exciting time for The Blue Post and we are so pleased to be open again. This refurbishment has been a perfect opportunity for us to bring the pub into 2022 with a fresh new look and the final result is just brilliant. We’ve had a great response from our guests on the new appearance and we’ve been as busy as ever since reopening the doors. This is a great pub for families and friends to meet up. For us it’s all about capturing the hearts and minds of the local people as an all-day community pub.”

She added: “Enjoy quiet time, watch a match, take part in a quiz, chill with some music or celebrate a special occasion. We are open for everyone whatever the reason, that’s the beauty of a pub, you don’t need a reason to call in, although, I have to say, you do need to come in and see what we have done with the place!”

The Blue Post is located on the town’s high street, just a short walk from the riverside of the beautiful River Tees in the heart of Stockton.
