Barming’s historic Bull is a tale full of charm as new owners Stonegate Pub Company pour £425,000 into refurbishing the pub which holds fond memories for the company’s Chairman, Ian Payne, who began his career behind the bar.
The grade II listed Bull, overlooking the Medway valley, is now the perfect spot for informal dining, weekend brunch, get-togethers with friends, and a haven for visitors including cyclists, ramblers and dog-walkers alike.
Sympathetically transformed, the mix of modern florals, leathers and reclaimed wood, combined with ornate lighting and textures enhance the traditional space, complete with feature fireplaces. The newly heated courtyard hosts a stunning pergola making it right on point for al fresco dining all year round. “We have really maximised the potential of our garden and with such a beautiful picturesque backdrop are giving Barming locals the premium pub they have been waiting for,” said General Manager Neil O’Hagan.
Chairman of Stonegate Pub Company Ian Payne said “I started my career in this industry behind the bar of the Bull back in 1973. It makes me extremely proud that this business will now offer further opportunity for young people with the drive and ambition to succeed, including the 30 new employees who have joined us, as well as offering locals a great pub in their neighbourhood.”
With six cask ales flowing, infused gins, and the scent of the new menu spreading, the pub caters for local business people, ladies that love lunch, families and friends and a host of occasions.
Lovers of fresh food can indulge in the freshly melted French Camembert; gourmet grills; burritos; pastas, salads & risottos; a tantalising selection of open and slow cooked pies; and Sea Bream en Papilote giving a taste of the new offer. Lazy Sundays will never be the same again, Duck Confit to Beef Long-Bone Rib a ‘cut’ above with free top ups all round. There’s a wide selection of offers and kids are in for a treat too with their healthy menu, guaranteed to have them happily tucking into their five-a-day.
Local Mayor Cllr Malcom Greer celebrated the reopening of the pub at the VIP event on Friday 18th August where sample tasters from the classic pub menu were offered along with local and craft beers and an opportunity to meet the local brewer from Tonbridge Brewery.
