The Bunch of Grapes, Bridgewater and a lucky guest, who won the pub’s charity raffle, are donating money to Batten Disease Family Association.

On Sunday 6 February, John was the lucky winner of the raffle that took place at Bunch of Grapes in Bridgewater. John has donated £2,200 to the Batten Disease Family Association. John’s grandson, Isaac, suffers from the disease and has been fighting it for the last few weeks, after years of tests and hospital visits. A cheque presentation will happen with representatives from the charity on Saturday 5 March at 7:30pm.

Licensee of the Bunch of Grapes, Jim Cavanagh, said: “I am humbled that our pub is able to support this amazing charity and the incredibly important work that they do. I hope that money will help little Isaac, and many others.”

With the target of £3,000, the Bunch of Grapes is currently welcoming all donations, in order to help those who suffer from this very rare neurodegenerative disease. Donations can be made in the pub, directly.

It is estimated that approximately 1 to 3 children are diagnosed with an infantile form of Batten disease every year, approximately 7 to 10 children are diagnosed with a late-infantile form of the disease every year and 3-4 children are diagnosed with a juvenile form of the disease each year, according to Batten Disease Family Association.
