The Chestnut Tree, formerly known as The Wishing Well, in Palmers Green, has reopened its doors, with a brand-new look and a new face behind the bar.

The Palmers Green pub has been re-named after a 300-year-old horse ‘Chestnut Tree’ which stood proudly on the Palmers Green triangle between Green Lanes and Aldermans Hill. And as well as a new name, there is also a brand-new face at the helm. With seven years in the industry, experienced Operator Sara Downes has taken over and is now ready to welcome customers into the new-look pub.

Sara said: “I’ve been out and about meeting residents and workers in Palmers Green, and it has been great getting to know people and I hope to see as many of them as possible in the pub. I’m really excited to get started here, and the team and I want to create a wonderful community pub for everyone in the area.”

The Chestnut Tree will be marking the new era with a grand launch party weekend on the 7th, 8th and 9th July, with exciting entertainment planned! Over the weekend there will be live Irish music and celebrations that will bring everyone together in the local, community pub.

The pub, which is now part of the multi-award-winning Craft Union Pub Company, has seen £180,000 invested into it to revitalise the well-loved local. The pub has had a complete overhaul inside and out, which includes new furniture, furnishings and flooring, along with new designs and decorations.

In addition to the new look, Sara is planning new weekly entertainment in the form of quiz nights and open mic nights. Everyone can get involved with the weekly entertainment as the pub is both pet and family-friendly, with children welcome until 7pm.

Sports fans will also want to make this their new hangout as the Chestnut Tree has Sky Sports and BT Sport and will screen all major events, including Premier League and Champions League football. The new sports offering does not stop there as a new illuminated darts board has been installed. Sara wants to welcome all the local sports clubs to use the pub’s facilities for local matches.

Customers can also look forward to a refreshed drinks offering, with the introduction of new beers including Madri and Neck Oil. Sara is also looking to develop a cocktail menu to further revitalise the offer.

She added: “This is a new era for the pub, and we look forward to welcoming new and old customers through the doors. If you’ve not been here for a while, come in and give us a look, we cannot wait to see you all!”
