The popular Commodore pub has reopened today following a £200,000 investment offering Lowestoft residents and visitors a perfect place to stop off for a drink and a meal while enjoying views across the Broads.
With its large beer garden and redecorated outside bars and kitchen, the waterside pub on Commodore Road is ideal for al fresco dining, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or traditional Sunday lunch.
The new-look Commodore features redesigned signage and fresh decoration throughout as well as investment behind the scenes in the kitchen areas. Regulars will be familiar with the layout inside and see the refreshed décor in the bar and dining areas. While the pub has been refurbished, it retains its charm, character and strong historic connections to Commodores in the area. The re-opening has seen 35 new jobs created at the pub, boosting the local economy.
The new food menus make the most of seasonal ingredients and feature pub classics. With Easter, May Bank Holidays and the Queen’s Jubilee, there is plenty to celebrate at the pub in the run up to the summer. Look out for ale and cider festivals and meet the brewer events with the chance to taste some of the best local drinks around. There are opportunities to watch the thrills of boat and motorboat racing on the Broads too.
The Commodore is open throughout the week and everyone is welcome; it’s family friendly and dog friendly.
The pub has moorings for hire so boat visitors can park up and enjoy classic Commodore hospitality while travelling in the area.
Following the short closure for the refurbishment, Nicola Harper, General Manager at The Commodore, said: “It is so good to welcome guests back to The Commodore and let them see its fresh new look this spring. It’s a great time of year to make the most of our wonderful, waterside setting and our outside bars and kitchen too. Come in and try our new menu – there are great, classic pub dishes, favourites which are always in fashion. Expect good quality, generous portions and a wide ranging choice to suit all tastes and diets, from a quick bite to eat to a full three-course meal. One of the best things for the pub team is trying all the new dishes, hand on heart, they are delicious!”
Nicola and her team will be open for business seven days a week and food is served daily. It is available for private events too.
Plans are afoot to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee at The Commodore in real style this summer so keep an eye on The Commodore website and social media for upcoming news or to plan your visit.
