A pub at the heart of its West Yorkshire community is back in business with a stunning new look and offer for customers.
The Crown in Scissett, located between Huddersfield and Barnsley, closed for just over two weeks for a complete refurbishment.
The pub has been refitted and renovated throughout, with new flooring, furniture, design and lighting. There’s also a new games room with darts and pool, plus the pub’s outside space has been improved as part of the £130,000 project.
Customers will be able to return to their much-loved and revamped local when it reopens its doors on Friday March 24. A week later there will be a relaunch party across the weekend featuring live music and comedy.
Entertainment including tribute acts, DJs, quiz nights, and karaoke will all form part of the regular entertainment at The Crown, as will top live sporting action.
A host of new HD screens have been fitted throughout the pub. There are now 12 in total so fans can always be sure to catch the big games and events on Sky Sports and BT Sport. The Crown will show the very best of the Premier League, Champions League and all major sporting tournaments and fixtures.
It will be a huge draw for customers, including The Crown Scissett, the pub’s men’s football team and current Wakefield & District League President’s Cup champions.
Pub operator Sharon Rose, who has been at the helm of The Crown for six years, said: “Like all of our customers, the football team can’t wait for us to be open again. They always come in after a game and we are looking forward to seeing them.
“We are very much a community sports pub with a good value offer for everyone to enjoy. We are really looking forward to everyone’s reaction when they see all the work that’s gone on here.”
The pub darts team are set to benefit from the installation of a new illuminated darts board. There is also a new pool table with plans for a pool team later this year.
The pub is family and dog friendly and has a wide choice of good-value drinks, including Doom Bar on cask as well as a new range of lagers that will be revealed on reopening.
The pub is part of the award-winning Craft Union Pub Company, who were named the Best Community Operator at the 2022 Publican Awards. It invested over £130,000 to ensure The Crown can deliver the very best hospitality to customers.
