The Crown, Sheringham, is welcoming guests once again, after a £600,000 investment. The Crown is the perfect destination for a delicious dinner or a few drinks with friends and family, whilst taking in the spectacular sea views. Sheringham is unique in the fact you can watch the sunrise and set over the sea, directly from in front of The Crown pub.

Located by Sheringham beach, The Crown has retained its traditional and friendly feel, whilst it has undergone this transformation. Inside, the pub has new seating areas and a new look and feel, but still as welcoming as ever. Three television screens have been installed, together with a state-of-the-art sound system, making The Crown the next best thing to the stadium experience. The refurbishment has been sympathetic to the pub’s history and many features have been retained, including the wood cladding which was repurposed by local craftsmen decades ago from old fishing boats of Sheringham.

Outside, overlooking the beach, there are new white and blue benches and wooden tables and chairs, which sit pride of place on the new decking – the perfect place to enjoy a drink or a bite to eat while enjoying the incredible sea views. The refurbishment has also seen the addition of a new outside bar and fish and chip shack, perfect for the warmer weather.

The pub reopens with a new food menu and an extensive drinks list that includes a range of popular beers from local brewers, Woodfordes, Lacons and Adnams. The wine list has some fantastic options including Rioja, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Grigio blush, to name but a few.

Oliver McErlain, General Manager of The Crown, Sheringham, said: “I’m very proud to be a part of this wonderful business. I’ve looked at this pub from over the bar for over 20 years and I’m very excited to deliver into the next 20 years.”

The pub held a launch party on Friday 1 April with the former licensee of the pub, Bob Brewster, being the guest of honour who has retired from The Crown after 45 years of success. During the party there was live music from John Causer.

Oliver continued “It’s important to me we are part of this amazing community and protect this business for years to come. It is a credit to Bob what a gem on the Norfolk coast this pub is. We will be sprinkling the magic, just like we did at my previous pub – the Lamb Inn Norwich – where I’ve been for the past 6 or so years.”

“After a challenging couple of years, we are so excited to welcome our guests back through our doors once more. We have got a fantastic line-up of events – there is something for everyone. Moreover, I cannot wait until the summer and warmer weather as our brand-new Fish and Chip Shack and outside bar is going to be a true destination in the area, making the most of our sea-wall location.”

The pub is planning to host events during the upcoming weeks and months, such as “We Love Quiz” with The Chase’s Dark Destroyer hosting this online quiz every Thursday and Sunday, and live music and DJs on the upcoming bank holidays which the Crown has always been famous for. Once the weather calms down, guests of the Crown will also be treated to live music outside.
