Brackens in Alvaston reopened its doors last week following a £223,000 investment into the popular Derbyshire pub.

Receiving a full refurbishment throughout, the venue’s new look interior has seen its seating areas refurbished giving a new lease of life to the pub, likewise, the exterior has been given a new look with a refreshed paintwork, and extra covers added in the garden for guests to enjoy the last of the summer sun. The pub’s facelift has really brought back a traditional feel to the favourite community local with a warm and welcome feel added with its new dark grey and burnt orange colour scheme. With an open layout but warm tones throughout, the venue offers the perfect location to enjoy drinks with friends well into the evening. The pub also has a car park to make the venue very accessible to guests from further afield.

With great viewing facilities throughout all areas of the pub, there’s no better place in town to catch all of the best sporting action live with your friends and family, with both BT Sport and Sky Sports being shown daily, as well as Racing UK. With new TVs installed and a four-screen TV wall guests really won’t be disappointed. Elsewhere, entertainment comes from the pub’s two new illuminated dartboards, pool table and gaming machines providing the perfect opportunity for a little healthy competition between guests.

To kick off the pub’s reopening, this weekend (9 September) Brackens is set to host A return of the Decades launch weekend, with a 70’s theme DJ on Friday and a singer on Saturday to bring great music throughout the weekend all in aid of raising money for Derbyshire Children’s Hospital.

Open from 11am on weekdays and 10am on weekends, the pub makes for the perfect venue to pop in, take a break from the summer sun and enjoy a refreshing drink. The bar stocks quality beers, wines, and spirits including local cask ale, national and international names. The drinks menu also features a good choice of interesting low and no-alcohol drinks too.

The pub is Operated by Nick Garbutt, who has spent a long and successful 20 years working in the pub industry. Across his time in hospitality, Nick’s experience has been vast and comprehensive including being an assistant manager as well as for Craft Union at the Gate in Sutton Coldfield. Nick has loved his previous experience within the Craft Team and decided to take on a pub of his own at the Brackens, Alvaston.

Speaking on the reopening, Nick said: “I’m so pleased with how the refurbishment has turned out and I’m so glad to welcome back our guests. This is such a friendly and welcoming pub and now the updated décor and furniture reflect that warm feeling.
