The Golden Fleece, York has collected and donated over 100 toys to the children’s ward at York District Hospital this Christmas.
The team at Golden Fleece has been collecting toys and welcoming donations from the local community this month to donate to York District Hospital. The team received over 100 toys and overwhelming support from the local community of York. Welcome Nurseries York branch also partnered with the pubs toy collection. General Manager Laura’s sister works at the nursery and wanted to get involved, the nursery has been teaching the young children about the gift of giving at Christmas to those less fortunate than themselves. The children brought in their old toys to donate, which were given to the pub to be wrapped up.
Laura and the pub team chose York District Hospital because it is in the centre of the city and it is well known amongst all the pub team. Laura, members of her team, along with the nursery staff dropped off the hand-wrapped gifts to the hospitals children’s ward on the 16th of December.
Laura Atkin, General Manager of The Golden Fleece, said: “Christmas is about giving, and it is lovely to be able to do that for the children at York District Hospital, and spread some Christmas cheer. It has been so heart-warming to see the children from Welcome Nurseries York getting involved with the toy donation and learning about giving at Christmas. And a huge thank you for their support and donations.
“I am overwhelmed by the number of toys that have been donated by the nursery and our local community, a big thank you to everyone who has supported the cause. Also, a thank you to my brilliant team here at the pub for helping me wrap all the presents and their support throughout the toy collection and donation.”
