The Goose on Grantham’s High Street are hosting a collection this week in order to raise money in honour of Drummer Lee Rigby.
The pub, which has placed collection tins and buckets in and around the bar, began collecting over the weekendand have already raised over £470 through customer donations.
The pub are now taking the collection one step further by raising money for the Royal Fusiliers Aid Society – the regiment that Lee Rigby served in.
Emma Savage, Assistant Manager of the Goose said: “We were contacted by Sue Goodes whose spouse was in the same regiment as Lee and knew him. She suggested that we should raise money for a cause that would directly help Lee’s family and of course, we’re happy to help in any way we can.”
The Royal Fusiliers Aid Society provides advice and financial assistance to serving and former members of the regiment as well as their widows and dependents who are facing hardship, especially through no fault of their own, by making grants to them when needed.
In addition to the collection, the Goose has set up a Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/GooseForTheFusiliers for those who aren’t able to make it into the pub.
