Adding to Croydon’s reasons to be happy, community spirit, and iconic music talent, the Green Dragon has seen a £300,000 refurbishment and is now set to deliver a terrific modern-day High Street pub whilst creating seven new local jobs.

Whether it’s, music, dining, socialising or partying, the contemporary high-tech design has everyone local in mind from the hipster to the beer aficionado. Destined to be the debut spot for the next generation of Croydon superstars, the new first floor stage is now all set for live bands, games nights, and Thursday ‘open mic’ evenings with the most impressive artists brilliantly earning a paid weekend slot and bar tab.

Enhancements to the pub include the ‘Cosy Corner’, now decked with X-Box and Play Station, sofas and pool table; and a Magic Eye Visual Display transmits stage shows to TVs downstairs, catering to casual diners liking that edge.

The big reveal of eclectic and stylish was on Thursday 9th November, where CAMRA checked out the craft & cask beers with fizz and menu tasters on offer and all against a background of acoustics. Local Funk Band, The Old Avengers, took center stage playing first in the pub’s fantastic musical arena.

General Manager, Susan Quinn, a landlady of forty years is making the Green Dragon a beacon for Croydon’s future: “I rise to the challenge of developing the next generation of pub, focussing on community – a place for everyone to feel comfortable and have fun.”

Staying in keeping with its reputation for hosting an impressive selection of drinks the Green Dragon has increased its choice of ales and craft beers along with six Lilly ciders, making sure they continue to feature in the Good Beer Guide as they have since 2012.

Contemporary menu dishes range from the en mode sourdough pizza with eleven variations to the juiciest Japanese Wagyu beef burgers wrapped in paper so they continue steaming from grill to plate. Pair that with tapas, like the tender BBQ beef burnt ends or the crispy bacon straws and you’ve got the ultimate social soiree.

The Green Dragon is continuing its commitment to community supporting local charity, the Brenda Kirby’s Cancer Centre.

Other reasons to visit include Monday quiz night; Wednesday’s games night; Thursday 241 pizza night and open mic night; Friday and Saturday is party night whilst Sunday is for chilling with early evening acoustic jam session.
