Shepherd’s Bush welcomed the newly styled ‘Green’ pub last Friday 9th December when it reopened in time for the festive season following a £250,000 development.
Paying homage to the area the legendary corner pub, complete with its own ‘Green Room’ gilded with BBC regulars of old, brightens the area with its quirks and urbaneness. Neon lit, ‘Get the Flock In’ illuminates the craft beers and ciders describing the only way to choose between pints. Pies, which have risen to the taste challenge and a list of reasons to visit from dawn ‘til dusk, present the new Hipster hub.
The bar, oozing sophistication and a blend of artisan and stylish warmth directed at chic entrepreneurs, trendsetters and aspiring hipsters, has kept its links with Queens Park Rangers fans, maintaining its reputation for welcoming fans with big screen and BT sports.
The opening night saw local musician Joel Rogers, of Troubadours fame showing his appreciation for The Green, a nod to future events, which promises to support local bands alongside the tradition of quizzes, board games, and comedy nights.
The new menu boasts crusted delight pies such as Beef andamp; Double Gloucester Pie, Chicken andamp; Brie, Lamb, rosemary and roasted garlic, Fishermans, and Cheese andamp; Leek; a combination of tapas – the ultimate socialising food as well as a few pub favourites and Burgers with their own recipe beef patties.
Manager Roger Hull, a lover of niche pubs, explains the reason behind the change. “Shepherd’s Bush has evolved so much over the years and deserves its own modern offer that is spreading beyond Shoreditch.
“Customers can join us for a quick lunchtime bite of salad and lighter dishes; chill out with 2-4-1 cocktails 5-8pm Monday to Thursday before a dinner of tapas or stonebaked pizzas; and then party into the evening. We’ve filled a gap to fulfil what modern, sociable pub goers demand without friends contending over which venue!
The opening event showcased the pub’s local and national ales, craft beers and cider including Camden Hells, Meantime London Pale Ale and Lilleys. ‘Seven Deadly’ gins, premium botanical blends exquisitely garnished to heighten the flavour and tasters from the street food menu.
There’s a whole range of incentives for customers with a selection of offers starting with Crafty Monday; Tapas Tuesday; Wing Wednesday; 241 Pie Thursday; and Fizz andamp; Chips Fridays.
