The landmark High Street pub in the centre of Grantham is getting a £225,000 refurbishment, creating seven new jobs – and with it’s history, what better name than The Old Bank when it re-launches on Thursday 22nd February?
The pub, once the site of the Guildhall, Barclays Bank and more recently Goose at the Bank, is adding another colourful chapter to its history as owners Stonegate Pub Company invest in the ultimate sports experience, craft beer, air conditioning, sound and light and a whole list of reasons to visit.
“We are going to wow our existing customers and attract so many more people who love the idea of a pub with all the traditional values, but completely modernised after our transformation,” said manager Kerrianne Eveleigh.
Sixteen screens, inside and out, will show Sky & BT Sports, and pay-per-view events, including the end of March Anthony Joshua fight. Taking it retro, there are two pool tables and darts, whilst Sports Table Service means no goal need ever be missed and there are even bookable booths with TV screens for the ultimate sports pub experience.
The grand re-launch weekend will showcase a renewed focus on the big night out both Fridays and Saturdays when its party music all night as resident DJ Andrew takes on the new facilities from 9pm.
With a modern pub comes premium drinks including craft beers Meantime Pale Ale, Brewdog, and Camden Hells alongside six cask beers. Cocktails are two-for-one all day every day and a fantastic range of no less than twenty-five gins paired with flavoured tonics definitely calls for gin o’clock!
Now open from 8am Saturdays and 9am every other day, there’s no doubt this is also a pub serious about food. Two of the most popular meals are £9.99 from fish & chips to Cumberland Sausage. A ‘Pizza Pie’ combines two of life’s much loved indulgences, and whilst pub favourites are a great way to indulge there’s also something for those watching their waistlines with many dishes under 450 calories such as the guilt free Chicken Burger. There are top value deals Monday to Friday and fresh homemade Sunday lunches.
As if there needed to be more, the new team have organised a reason to visit every day of the week:
- Monday – Rock N’ Roll Bingo
- Tuesday – Games Night rolling down the big screen for some uber video games
- Wednesday – Wacky nights from Meet the Brewer, Gin Tasting, and acoustics
- Thursday – Kwizzbit interactive quiz night where mobile phones are allowed!
- Friday – Get the party started with live DJ
- Saturday – The BIG one – excellent music, open til’ late
- Sunday – Industry Night – discounts for Grantham bar staff with Karaoke
