The Pelican Inn, Ogmore-by-Sea has recently received a £130,000 refurbishment, which sees the venue transformed into the go-to gastro pub in the area.
The pub, which is run by licensee Mark Newbold, has been given a fresh look inside and out adding bespoke design touches including a 4ft hand-carved pelican, which was crafted by a local craftsman Roger David.
A popular venue for a number of years, Mark and his family have built a loyal customer base in the local area and are renowned for their excellent food and drink offering. The beautiful establishment based on the banks of the river also overlooks the historic Ogmore Castle, with great walks nearby to enjoy. The picturesque pub has served its guest for almost 300 years.
Artwork commissioned by local artists adorns the walls depicting the local landmarks in the area complimenting the new furniture and newly-laid traditional wood floors, making the venue a cosy space in which to enjoy the views of castle, whilst sampling the new menu.
The revamp at this countryside pub is set to establish it as the go-to destination in the area.
Mark Newbold, Licensee of The Pelican Inn, said “Our official reopening launch exceeded all expectations, it was amazing to see so many returning and new faces to the pub. Myself and my family are so proud to be able to open the doors once again and show off all the amazing changes made during the refurbishment. The improvements have been made to make sure that we stick by our mantra of being a real pub, with good food, and a great atmosphere, as we look to deliver a premium dining experience to our guests whether local or visiting the area.”
