One of Halifax’s most prominent town centre pubs is under refurbishment, a pub that must always exist so its rumoured local byelaws dictate – though a pub too popular to think of as anything but immortal anyway.
The Plummet Line’s own top of the league Football Club will be leading celebrations at the unveiling on 14th November, nine days after it closed for the whirlwind makeover.
The investment has given the Victorian pub a fresh look inside and out, whilst preserving its historic character that has helped make it legendary for real ale, sports and music, earning it many awards from the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA)
The Plummet Line is all set to continue being the best host to local sport lovers of all ages. Ten flat screen televisions, and two cinema screens with BT and Sky along with a traditional pool table provide the insignia of the pub’s sporty tradition, alongside sponsoring its own pool team and The Plummet Line FC.
Adding a new dance floor space, evenings are destined to liven up with Saturday’s resident DJ in full swing spinning tracks and Wednesday when customers get to choose the tunes with a Free Jukebox Night. There’s also a new Thursday Quiz night.
Real ale continues to be king with national favourites like Wynchwood’s Hobglobin, top selling local brews The Plummet Line Blonde by Moorhouses and Farmers Blonde by Bradfield Brewery and CAMRA members keep 10% discounts. There’s also a modern gin menu with fifteen botanicals keeping the Plummet Line up with the times. General Manager Sarah Stansfield: “We are a traditional local pub and I am a traditional local Halifax lass through and through. We put our heart and soul into everything we do here especially for the community sponsoring things like the half marathon for cancer research which really makes us proud.”
Other reasons to visit include Monday and Tuesday Clubs with prices from £1.70 on selected drinks.
