Pontefract’s premiere pub, club and beer garden venue, The Red Lion, has received a considerable investment over the last year, catapulting its leisure and hospitality offer into another league.
Over £100,000 has been put into revitalising the club area to its full potential, showcasing original design and unique décor – a perfect backdrop to snug new furnishings. The Red Lion’s iconic red and gold theme is emblazed throughout the Grade Two listed building.
Recent regulars to the Red Lion will also have enjoyed the festival feel of the refurbished beer garden. Generous jumbrella brollies cover a large, enclosed seating area festooned with lights and flowers from the walled flower garden.
A stage area for bands to share high-quality live music completes a very vibrant picture. Guests will be inspired by acts such as upcoming Lady Gaga cover artist providing a soundtrack to Bottomless Brunch. Indeed, The Red Lion can proudly boast the largest outdoor enclosed space in Pontefract.
Upstairs, the Function Room has been sympathetically restored with high-spec finishings, in addition to accessible guest toilets and its own buffet area, making it an ideal location for hires such as weddings, funerals and parties. This is reflected in its recent popularity as the go-to destination for wedding parties and birthday bashes.
Added to this glorious suntrap is a further planned investment in an outdoor DJ booth and a dedicated outdoor cooking area for fried food. Known as ‘The Yard at the Red Lion’, the whole area is an impressive offer to the local community and beyond. As the largest outdoor beer garden in the area, The Yard at the Red Lion has well and truly made its mark!
The cherry on The Red Lion’s proverbial cake is a new kitchen refit with state-of-the-art commercial equipment and a new menu to boot! Traditional pub fare will be offered to complement a wide range of drinks.
