Plans have been revealed for ‘The Station Tap’, Wokingham’s new ‘crafty’ bar replacing the town’s Molly Millar pub that closed its doors for the last time on Monday night (2nd April).
Owner Stonegate Pub Company, with the announcement of a whopping £400,000 investment and ten new jobs, gave a welcome vote of confidence for the future of the 150-year-old pub, announcing it’s reopening as Monday 30th April.
It’s bold, modern, and urban from new 7am breakfasts offering more than standard coffee and a muffin for rail commuters, twenty craft beers, HD TVs and plasmas for the ultimate sporting experience, sourdough pizzas and tapas inspired food, and extended 2:30am opening with enough entertainment to make Wokingham sociable again.
“Wokingham needed a better class venue for it’s upmarket social scene,” said manager Adrian Gist. “The new name is a nod to the pub’s history (first called ‘The Railway Hotel’ one hundred and fifty years ago) yet original to reflect our on trend, diverse offer.”
Wood panelled, industrialised, yet stylish and welcoming, expect quirky additions at every turn from the neon-illuminated twenty strong craft beer wall, to the hundred capacity external areas.
The only bar in town with Sky Sports, there’s HD coverage all round. Tapping into the beer revolution, local and craft beer sensations include Camden Pale Ale, Camden Hells, Punk IPA, Hop House 13, and Meantime beers from London lager to Yakima Red. Fifteen gins are just a part of a spirits emporium with premium vodkas, rums and whiskeys and even Tequila is sipped not shot.
Rise and shine with breakfasts every commuter wishes they could access from Guacamole on Focaccia to Bacon sandwich or Smoothie. Sourdough pizzas, tempting tapas sharers and an enviable line up of desserts make the edgy menu inclusive for the veggie, trendsetter, and crav-able burger lover. The Japanese Wagyu Beef Burger ticks all the foodgasm boxes with oozing molten cheese sauce, wrapped for extra juice and succulence whilst the Sundae Pint of ice-cream, brownie, Churros, flake, marshmallows, caramel and raspberry coulis is just a sample of some amazing treats.
There’s different reasons to visit every day, with food offers such as 241 pizza Thursdays and entertainment from retro games Wednesday, Quizbit Thursday, Rock ‘n’ roll Bingo Sunday to DJ music to get more than your toes tapping Friday and Saturdays.
“We are leading the way on investment into Wokingham’s daytime and night time economy,” added Adrian. “This is the biggest upgrade the town has seen for a long time. We’re looking to the future throwing £400,000 into creating a fabulous amenity for locals so they can stay local.”
