The Tavern, on High Street, Scunthorpe has reopened following a six-figure investment into the popular venue.

Receiving a complete transformation, the venue’s new look interior sees its seating areas refurbished giving a new lease of life to the pub with a new lighter and more open look and feel.

The investment into the pub sees a host of changes including new wooden flooring, carpets, its furniture restored, along with new fixed seating added. A redecoration has seen the interior walls painted, with sections wallpapered to bring a new look to the venue. Externally the pub has also been repainted, with new spotlights and signage to freshen up its look from the entrance.

With a number of large TVs throughout all areas of the pub showing Sky Sports, there’s no better place in town to catch all of the best sporting action live with your friends and family, as The Tavern enjoys the start of the new football season. Also entertaining guests will be the venue’s freshly updated darts area, with an illuminated dartboard creating the perfect opportunity for a little competition between friends. This is alongside the pool table area which remains a focal point of the sporting activities on offer.

The popular Scunthorpe pub was originally called the Oswald, being named after a local family of note when it was opened in 1899 by retired foreman boilersmith Squire Charlesworth. Legendary bands such as Mott The Hoople and The Ronettes played there in the 1970s, the former entertaining all the young people of Scunthorpe.

The Tavern is open everyday from 10am so it’s the perfect venue to pop in and have a refreshing drink this summer. The bar stocks quality beers, wines and spirits with well-known local, national and international names. The drinks menu also features a good choice of interesting low and no-alcohol drinks too.

The pub is Operated by Sarah, who has been at the pub for 6 years, and working in the hospitality industry for 10 years in total, having previously worked as a hairdresser. Sarah’s parents previously owned a number of pubs whilst she was growing up, so it really is in her blood.

Speaking on the reopening, Operator at The Tavern, Sarah Randall said: “It’s a great feeling to welcome guests back to the pub once again after the refurbishment. I’m thrilled and very proud to oversee this fantastic local pub through its redevelopment, I really couldn’t be more pleased with how it has turned out. Myself and the team are very excited for what’s sure to be a busy summer at the pub, and can’t wait to see our guests enjoying the new look of The Tavern.”
