The Tennis Court Pub ‘Amps’ Up Fundraising With Annual Music Festival

Springstock Charity Music Festival returns to the Tennis Court Pub in Perry Bar, Birmingham on Saturday 21st July to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Support. Now in its 18th year, the festival commemorates the lives of two local men, Alan Knowles and Gary Higgs, both well-loved patrons of the Tennis Court.
Organiser Robert Knowles, Alan’s brother, has arranged an exciting line-up for this year’s festival. Headlining is a nine-piece Reggae and ska band, The Reggaelators, with additional performances from Luke Knowles, Darren, Every Thread, Katey Gee Band, Eliza May and more! As well as live music performed in the garden, there will be a raffle with prizes, a soft play area and bouncy castle to keep the kids amused and burgers and hot dogs will be served.
Robert said: “Springstock started back in July 2000 when my brother Alan Knowles was diagnosed with cancer. After he passed away, we continued to hold the festival in his memory, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Then tragically, five years later, our friend Gary Higgs, who helped to co-found Springstock, also lost his life after suffering a major cardiac arrest. The proceeds have been split between Macmillan Cancer and the British Heart Foundation ever since.
“Last year’s event raised an incredible £4,000 and since it first started, we have raised over £30,000 for our chosen charities. Over the years Springstock has grown and evolved from a small event for friends and family, raising money for a cause close to home, to an event enjoyed by people from all over the West Midlands.”
Robert added: “We’re hoping to raise even more this year in support of the amazing work that both charities do. We decided to back the #Macbrum campaign, which aims to raise £250,000 for Macmillan services specifically within the Birmingham and Black Country area.”
Tickets cost £5 for adults, there is no charge for children. All proceeds from the ticket sales and raffle will go directly to charity.
