Minutes from world-famous Matthew Street and revered by tourists and shoppers as one of the friendliest pubs in Liverpool, the William Gladstone is having a makeover and true to form, dedicating its launch party to charity.
Ensuring it remains top choice for the city’s party nights and sports socials whilst keeping up with the trends of modern pub goers, a new menu, bookable sports booths with flat screen TVs, local cask ales, and an expanded range of gins, whiskeys and two-for-one cocktails are being thrown into the mix.
The landmark pub reopens 26th October after a ten-day closure, with celebrations ramping up Saturday 28th October. The Anthony Joshua fight is bound to first pack the venue (probably the only time its multiple sports viewing facilities won’t be used)! before a local Beatles tribute band take the stage and a Disney themed Halloween fancy dress unfolds. Cash is being raised for MIND, one of the pub’s favourite charities.
Staunch fundraisers and community spirited, the pub has already raised hundreds of pounds for charities such as Help the Heroes, Macmillan, and Liverpool Whitechapel Homeless Centre, and regularly collect items for clothes and food banks.
Speaking of their commitment to charity, General Manager, Julie McNivan said: “The team love everything we do for charity, it’s all in good fun and customers relish seeing staff take such an active interest in the fundraising events we host.”
The makeover has also brought in an enhanced drinks range and new food menu. Cask ales from local and national breweries include Wainwrights, Greene King and Wells and Youngs; Lilleys ciders, a range of six lagers and a spirits emporium with twelve varieties of gin and ten whiskeys have taken to the bar.
Not only are many a reveller able to celebrate the morning after with ‘double everything’ full English breakfast deal for just £3.49 but they can also indulge in one of the new Kings Feast additions including the Chicken Feast which is guaranteed to fulfil with two southern fried chicken breasts filled cheese and bacon, southern fried goujons and chicken wings all served with a portion of chips. This is just one of the new plentiful and mouth watering additions to the King’s Feast selection, others include Giant Curry and the Jumbo Crispy Chicken.
The new menu will also feature the grand appearance of The Pizza Pie another new addition bound to become one of the firm favourites amongst customers. Stuffed with all the favourite toppings, oozing with mozzarella and cheddar cheese and totally encased in a dough pastry.
Other reasons to visit include Mighty Monday’s big plate go large specials, Tuesday’s burger and free drink, Wednesday is pie and a pint deal, Thursday sees Best of British classic grill dish and a free drink whilst Saturday features five tapas pick n’ mix plank and Sunday is of course roast and mega sports night.
