A new pub is to open in Woking later this week creating twenty-five jobs. The Ogilvy, on Chertsey Road, will open following a £175,000 makeover, on Saturday 28th September.
Named after the astronomer, from the book ‘War of the Worlds’ by Woking’s most famous resident, H G Wells, The Ogilvy effortlessly combines traditional pub values with a modern, stylish environment. A haven from the hustle and bustle of daily life it will offer customers freshly cooked, quality food, a great selection of thirst-quenching drinks, a warm and welcoming ambiance and exceptional service.
The pub itself will be light and airy with areas designed for dining, for relaxing with friends over drinks, and for group bookings with a dedicated VIP booth being installed. Food will be a big focus, served daily from 10am until 10pm and will include classic pub favourites such as Cumberland Sausage and Spring Onion Mash served with a red wine gravy and a sticky red onion marmalade alongside low-calorie options, grilled asparagus and king prawn salad, with poached egg; 8oz rump steak and superfood salad or aubergine bake filled with orzo pasta, tomato, garlic, basil and pulses.
The Ogilvy will celebrate its launch with a welcome reception on Saturday 28th September for local businesses between 7-9pm. Guests can enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne and try out some of the delicious canapés created by the pub’s kitchen team. Doors open to the public from 9pm and the evening continues until 1am with live music from a saxophonist, before The Ogilvy’s DJ takes to the decks.
The pub, which is owned and operated by Stonegate Pub Company as part of its estate of Classic Inns, will offer customers a selection of four regularly rotating cask ales. “We have several plans in place for the coming months”, said general manager Mark Slowe, “including a real ale festival in the New Year and a casino and cocktail night in aid of our chosen charities Woking Hospice and Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Children’s charity.” As well as an excellent selection of beers and wines, The Ogilvy will be offering two for the price of one cocktails every Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 5pm and 8pm – the perfect way to unwind after a day’s work, or to get the weekend party started.
“The Ogilvy will be a breath of fresh air for Woking. New and exciting, we look forward to welcoming people to the pub, whether they are looking for a place to meet for a coffee, a great pint and a friendly welcome, a delicious meal out with work colleagues, family or friends, or simply to kick back and enjoy a cocktail and music at the end of the working week,” added Mark.
