MP Christian Matheson and the Town Crier of Chester David Mitchell both attended The Town Crier pub launch event on Friday 4th May. The Town Crier Pub has grown so popular that £410,000 has been ploughed into its expansion and regeneration.
The Town Crier opposite Chester’s railway station, one of the few places in the city to boast a beer garden, has knocked down walls, bringing in an avant-garde island bar, opening from 7am and even linking to live train times to become the city’s ‘unofficial’ waiting room.
Featuring local cask ales, craft beers, all day 2-4-1 cocktails, the best in live sport, and bookable space for group parties, the redesigned, enlarged pub is set to be the perfect gateway to Chester.
“The Town Crier is so popular with tourists, commuters, hens, stags and race goers, that we’ve simply outgrown our facilities,” said manager Paul Corbett. “We’re also the first real welcome that visitors get to Chester so we’re keeping up appearances and flying the big Chester welcome flag high.”
The launch event took place on Friday 4th May, emphasising a sense of community with a charity quiz at the heart of proceedings.
Sky and BT Sports, bookable booths with TVs, ten HD screens, projector, sports table service (drinks served at the table during all big games) and a traditional pool table, make it certain to be the best in sport.
Whether relaxing in the revamped sixty-seater garden, stealing a moment while waiting for a train, or heading for a big night out, there’s definitely a drink to tickle any taste bud. Craft beers Brewdog Punk IPA and Hop House 13, four cask ales including brews from locals Mobberley Brewhouse and Weetwood, and a large range of gins that make any time gin o’ clock are complemented by cocktails, wines and soft drinks.
A new dining zone is set for business from 7am so no more starting the day with plastic wrapped food on-the-go from light to full breakfasts. Two meals for £9.99, such as Fish & Chips and Beef & Ale Pie, are available all day every day. Burgers from Classic Beef to Three-way Chicken, Grills and Build-your-own Planks couldn’t get more sociable.
A diverse audience deserve interesting reasons to visit, so entertainment is set to change with the seasons and Chester events. Free pool on Monday, quiz on Thursday and regular live music on Fridays will be winning regular features
