The Walnut Tree, York has recently welcomed local MP Rachael Maskell for a visit following its £335,000 investment.

 

Rachael Maskell’s visit to The Walnut Tree allowed her to see its refreshed look, meet with the team, and find out more about the role the pub plays in the local community. Deputy Manager, Danny Biggs gave Rachael a tour of the pub and talked to her about the pub’s offering and how the locals of Heworth and York get involved with the pub.

 

Rachael Maskell, MP for York Central, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to The Walnut Tree, and it was really nice to meet Danny and the pub team. The pub has a fantastic new look, and it was great to hear about the investment. There is a real community essence to The Walnut Tree, and it is brilliant to see so many individuals in the York area visiting the pub and getting involved with what the pub has to offer. I look forward to my next visit to the pub.”

 

The recent investment by Stonegate Group has enhanced the pub’s warm welcoming feel, but also given the interior a lighter and brighter appearance. The pub’s large garden has been perfect over the summer months, with a range of newly furnished seating, lighting and beautiful greenery and plants. Inside, there is also the large bar that houses a range of drinks including local and more well-known beers, wines and spirits, and if you prefer something non-alcoholic, there are low and no alcohol drinks as well as classic soft and hot drinks. The pub also has a delicious food menu that pairs lovely with any of the drinks, and includes dishes of fish and chips, hearty pies and on Sunday’s, traditional roasts.

 

Hayley Walker, General Manager of The Walnut Tree, commented: “It was fantastic to have Ms Maskell come to the pub and see its transformation, and find out about everything we have going on for the local community to get involved with.

 

“Opening our doors after the investment has been great, we have welcomed in lots of customers and continue to see so many returning faces, which is always lovely. As well as individuals joining in with our events, it has been so nice to see customers coming in for drinks and food, which everyone is enjoying. The refurbishment has really revitalised the pub, and the team and I are so excited about the future of The Walnut Tree.”
